Most of us spend a lot of time in our cars now. Daycare. Holidays. Playground. Sports. Zoo. You get the picture. You can take much of the stress out of traveling with children (and make it fun) but not without good preparation. Assuming you already have things like a First Aid Kit in your glove box, to get prepared you will need five simple things:
FIRST: Busy Bags. A busy bag is any type of small bag that can hold age-appropriate soft and semi-soft (not loud) toys. I like to create themes for these as well. If you can fit a small book in your busy bag, do it.
SECOND: A Cooler. Either a lunch bag-sized cooler or a mid-sized soft one is best. Since little ones need food and snacks often you can opt for Bento Boxes or lunch bags. Quite frankly, I found hunger to be the one consistent cause of grouchiness, even as teens. Allow least one bag or box per child and give them ownership over packing and cleaning.
THIRD: A Travel Blanket. At least one travel blanket (per child) that converts into a pillow. I LOVE THIS! Great for plane travel, too.
FOURTH: A Designated Travel Bag. Keep it all organized in one designated bag for trunk or SUV. So fitting for many travel needs.
FIFTH: A Solar Charger. With so many devices in today’s world, the organized parent keeps at least one of these in the vehicle at all times. Ballgames. Practices. Field Trips. You know there is no charger on the soccer field!
Have fun, get organized, and plan your kid travels thoroughly. Careful planning makes for comfortable travel. Share your ideas with me on Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Blogger, WordPress, or Indulgy. I would love to share your great finds with my readers also.
